Transition is underway

Spring is officially here, and with it comes an important seasonal change on the golf course—our transition from cool-season ryegrass back to our warm-season base of bermudagrass. This is a natural and expected process each year, and our team has already begun the steps necessary to ensure a smooth, healthy transition.
Over the coming weeks, you may notice a gradual thinning of the ryegrass across the course. This is intentional and part of our efforts to encourage bermudagrass to take center stage as temperatures rise. Several cultural and agronomic practices help facilitate this shift, including lowering the mowing heights and carefully managing irrigation. These adjustments are designed to give bermudagrass the competitive edge it needs as it begins to emerge from dormancy.
In addition, we are applying a plant growth regulator to help suppress the ryegrass and allow the bermuda to fill in more effectively. This particular product represents a newer generation of tools available to turf managers—one that promotes a slower, more controlled transition, rather than the abrupt, patchy results of older methods. Applications began in early April and will continue through May.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as the course moves through this important seasonal cycle. These efforts are all part of setting the stage for strong, healthy bermudagrass growth heading into summer. As always, thank you for your continued support.
